Product Overview

My main reason for buying a rod pod was due to the fact that when fishing at places which have solid ground like concrete or gravel as an example its sometimes hard to find that perfect spot which you can use to set your rods, usually I opt for bank sticks when the ground is soft so if I’m fishing on a grass verge bank sticks can be placed anywhere and are great for awkward fishing situations, that been said when it comes to hard surfaces like the ones mentioned above a rod pod is a brilliant bit of kit that comes in much-needed use.

As you can tell by the title this model has vacancy for 3 rods with around 10-15cm spacing distance between each rod, these are commonly used by Carp Anglers as they like to set up many rods in different areas of the lake but this does not mean that you have to be a carp angler to use them, I have used this rod pod with other types of rods rods many of times also as the concept is the same, it’s a place for rods to be held in position and can be used in many situations whether you are fishing on a lake, beach or river it doesn’t really matter the rod pod is an item that can be utilized either way.

Having this has allowed me to fish spots that I otherwise wouldn’t bother without it, it’s very easy to assemble only takes around 2 minutes to set up and also very light to carry when packed away, it comes in 7 pieces and has compartments within it’s carry case for each individual part as you can see in the picture above.

NGT And Build Quality

NGT is a fishing brand that is fairly inexpensive in comparison to some others, now this does not mean that all the products made by NGT are cheap, nasty and not worth the money just some items are better than others, for instance if you are looking for a full Carp fishing setup then NGT do provide this at a really good price considering some higher end manufactures would take you into the 1000’s but you may find that some tackle included is not of the best quality like the reels and rods for example but some other components will be perfectly suitable and of decent enough quality especially for the money you spend.

NGT Benefits

NGT seems to be one of those companies that are trying to build reasonable tackle for people on a budget. With this rod pod I have yet to find any real fault with it to date but like anything out there you find good and bad reviews and this is no exception, you may find reviews that state that the rod pod seems very light and flimsy, now it is very light and I would assume that it would not take much force to damage or break this product but in reality this could happen with any make or model as with most fishing tackle it’s delicate.

Realistically though it’s for holding your rods and that’s it so if you look after it I think it should be just fine for many fishing sessions. To me the build quality is like a 7/10, I have looked at more expensive models before and they were more on the heavier side and you could say they just seemed of better quality if you know what I mean but I decided to go with this one as the reviews were more positive than negative for the most part and for the price (around £40) I feel that I’ve received a great product.

Rating For The NGT Rod Pod

My overall rating for this rod pod is around 8/10, if you are looking for a rod pod and for a reasonable price then I think NGT in this case is not a bad choice. As mentioned prior you can get more expensive ones but even then I have come across some that are of the same quality as the one mentioned here in this post but it’s not really obvious what the actually benefits are that you receive by splashing out more cash especially if you are looking for something cheap and cheerful.

The reviews on all other makes and models have a mix of positive and negative regarding all aspects. I have personally had no problems up to now, nothing has broken as of yet so I’m happy with it although I do hear of the plastic clips used to fix the legs in place once adjusted can often break if forced too much but again this could come down to user error and not always the product itself and this also goes for other models a like so it’s not just a common fault with this rod pod I believe it’s across the board, delicate kit can always be broken no matter the price.
